If you are considering treating yourself to a Jellycat plush from Jeremy’s Home Store, you’ve probably spent hours oohing and aahing over our wide range of sweet softies.
You might also have noticed a diverse range of Jellycat sizes for certain soft toys.
So, what do the different Jellycat sizes mean and which is best for you? Read on to find out!
Standard Jellycat sizes
For the most part, Jellycat sizes tend to be given as height x width x length and run as follows:
| Old size category (pre-2023) | New size category (post-2023) | Height |
| Baby | Tiny | 13cm |
| Little | Small | 18cm |
| Original | Medium | 31cm |
| Large | Large | 36cm |
| Big | Huge | 51cm |
| Really Big | Really Big | 67cm |
| Really Really Big | Giant | 94cm |
However, you should always check the individual product description to be sure as there is some level of difference across the ranges.
Similarly, the height of each toy will be specified as either a sitting height, a standing height, or both depending on how the Jellycat toy can be positioned.
Many adorable Jellycat designs have dangly legs that they can’t actually stand up on, so the full height states their size from the top of their head to the bottom of their feet, while the sitting height states how tall their body is when they’re sitting upright on a flat surface.
For example, Otto Sausage Dog stands freely on his four paws, so the height given relates to him standing, while Ricky Rain Frog sits grumpily on his bottom with his legs sticking out in front of him, so his 13cm height relates to him sitting.
So, if you’re going to keep your quirky cuddly toy on display, you should consider whether it will be sitting or standing and measure the spot you intend to place it in to make sure it will fit nicely
However, unless you have a tape measure handy, it can be hard to get an idea for the size of your beautiful new bestie.
In this case, which size is right for you?
How big is a medium Jellycat?
Among adult Jellycat aficionados, some find that a medium Jellycat is perfectly sufficient, while others find that they can be a little on the small side if you are looking for a cosy one to cuddle.
Ears and tails are not included in the measurements for Jellycats, so if you are looking for a more intensive cuddle experience, aim for a larger size – anything labelled Large, Huge, Really Big, or even Giant should do!
For those seeking a new best pal that is a little easier to transport, consider a floppier, less stuffed friend. This could be Huggady Hippo or Huggady Dog, any of the Jellycat dragons that lie flat on their bellies, or any character in a size described as Tiny, Small, or Medium to be sure they can accompany you wherever you go.
Top tips for finding the perfect Jellycat sizes for you
To avoid being unhappy with your purchase, follow our top tips for choosing the ideal Jellycat sizes that are just right for you!
- Get a measuring tape – or app – out to be sure
If you didn’t grow up with a 30cm ruler as a schoolbag essential or work as a tradesperson, imagining the dimensions of a Jellycat could be tricky.
So, use a soft tape measure or even an on-screen ruler to get a quick idea before you order!
- Check the size you’ve put in your basket
While not relevant for all Jellycat plushies, be sure to select your chosen size before selecting the quantity and adding it to your basket.
Helpfully, to make it easier, Jellycat-brand toys are all labelled with the same size determiners from the chart above, so you can get a good idea of their size.
Plus, for more size information on every listing, check the detailed product specifications.
- Decide your size preference in advance
If you are new to the brand, it might surprise you to know that they often completely sell out of new or seasonal releases shortly after they arrive in stock.
For this reason, you should try to decide in advance what size Jellycat you would like or be prepared to decide and order pretty quickly to avoid disappointment.
